Beauty industry background:
I went to a Paul Mitchell school to get my cosmetology license and fell in love with the Paul Mitchell culture (and products!). After school I worked in a salon doing hair, but what I really wanted to do was teach. I went back to the same Paul Mitchell school to get my instructor license and taught there as a color specialist.
I was then given the opportunity to work at an amazing school called Evergreen Beauty College. I was introduced to the world of esthetics and I always thought it was super interesting and fun, but I did not want to go back to school to get another license as you have to do in Washington. I was also introduced to Dermalogica products and have been a devoted fan since then.
Eventually I decided to take some time away from teaching and the beauty industry. I left teaching in 2014 and didn’t really look back, but anytime I would get a job doing something unrelated there was always something missing. I started looking into doing hair again when I moved to Texas, and in the process I learned that my cosmetology license covered esthetics as well – SWEET – and was offered a position as an esthetician at The Salon at Ulta. I was SO excited to take on the challenge, especially since we use Dermalogica exclusively for all of our treatments!
I have 4 kids, all boys, and they are crazy. We moved to Texas last year from the Seattle area and lived in Austin for about a year before moving to the North Dallas area (Cross Roads, to be exact). We love the weather and the community feel in Texas, everyone is nice and we can trick-or-treat without wearing 17 layers of fleece + a rain coat.
I love all sorts of baking, arts and crafts, etc. I could write a blog about that + what it is like to parent 4 boys, but mom blogs are a lot of work. You have to stage all those pictures and, while I love taking a picture of my donuts when they come out just right, that is 1 out of 5 times and there is always some sort of crazy situation like a naked kid or giant mess in the background. I’m just not cut out for that life.
